Kathy Ruthman Neff was born in Tachikawa, Japan and raised in Forest Park Ohio. She was a friendly, fun loving girl who played the piano and loved to read. While in high school she was a member of Honor Society and was on the Drill Tram. She graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. Following college she moved to California and worked in Aerospace for McDonald Douglas and General Dynamics. While working at General Dynamics she was awarded the “Hispanic Women of the Year Award”.
While working in California she met and married her husband William Lloyd Neff. Together they had 3 boys, Alex, Conner, and Adam. After 12 years in the business world she became a full time homemaker. She worked hard to build a strong marriage and was a devoted mother to her boys. At the age of 40 she decided to become a marathon runner. She ran in all the major marathons except for the Boston. She had just found out that she qualified for it when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2008. Her faith sustained her for 18 long months and she fought corageously but died at the age fo 48 on November 6, 2009
