Dennis “Mitch” Mitchell, 65, Wilmington, formerly of Murray City, Ohio died 2:50 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012, at Kettering Medical Center. His wife, Shirley Mitchell, to whom he was married Oct. 11, 1986, survives.
Mr. Mitchell was born March 4, 1947 in Nelsonville, son of the late Walter and Charlotte Spencer Mitchell. He was a graduate of Murray City High School and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Mr. Mitchell retired after 35 years with American Electrical Power. A devoted Legionnaire, he held several offices within the American Legion. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post 49, and was currently serving as its finance officer. He was a past District Commander of the Fourth District American Legion. He was a Department Committee Chairperson of the Ohio Department of American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the Nelsonville VFW. He was also currently serving as commissioner of the Clinton County Veteran’s Service Committee.
